Gloria Estefan Celebrates Latin Music Legacy With ‘Conga’ Performance at 2025 AMAs

Come on, shake your body! On Monday night, Latina icon Gloria Estefan got the entire American Music Awards moving to a medley of her dance-ready hits.

Jennifer Lopez introduced the performance, which saw Estefan commence with a performance of “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You” from Miami Sound Machine’s Let It Loose album. The singer transformed the stage into a Miami nightclub, complete with neon lights and palm trees surrounding her as she sparkled in a classic black sequinned top and velvet pants.

Before performing her new song “La Vecina (No Sé Na’)” from her upcoming LP Raíces, Estefan dedicated the track “to all those nosy neighbors that we love.” The Latin crossover queen wrapped up her medley performance with her hit “Conga.” Estefan didn’t let the moment slip away without commemorating the song’s staying power. “Happy 40th birthday ‘Conga,’ you know what you still got it,” the singer quipped before singing.

This is Estefan’s first time performing on the AMAs stage in more than 30 years. Throughout her career, Estefan received two AMA nominations: in 1990 for “Don’t Wanna Lose You” in the Favorite Pop/Rock Song category and a nod as Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist in 1994. In 2000, the Latina icon was also celebrated with an Award of Merit at the show.

Estefan’s Monday performance comes just several days before Estefan releases her album Raíces, her first all-Spanish album since 2007’s 90 Millas. She led the album with its title track and followed it with “La Vecina (No Se Ná)” on May 1. Estefan also announced that she’s making a musicalBasura, about a scrap-metal orchestra, alongside her daughter Emily. It’s set to premiere in May 2026 in Atlanta.

Monday’s 2025 edition of the AMAs, hosted at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, marked the return of the awards show since 2021. Jennifer Lopez is hosting the show, and stars such as Benson Boone, Janet Jackson, Blake Shelton, Lainey Wilson, and Rod Stewart were announced as performers. (Jackson is being crowned wtih the Icon Award.)

Kendrick Lamar led the nominations list ahead of the awards show with ten nods, followed by Post Malone, who has eight. Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey all tied with seven nominations each.
