Haiti have announced their 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026™

The Caribbean side is back at the World Cup for the first time since 1974, and head coach Sebastien Migne has unveiled the 26 members of Les Grenadiers who will take on Scotland, Brazil and Morocco next June.

“When you enter this kind of competition – and this is my twelfth international tournament – it’s not necessarily about picking the best individual players,” said Migne. “You have to try to put together the best possible squad so that the national team can perform well. After a 52-year absence, this is a significant moment for the fans, for my staff and for the players, as for them, the World Cup is the ultimate prize, the Holy Grail.”The squad features the team’s key players: captain Johny Placide in goal, defensive stalwarts Ricardo Ade and Carlens Arcus, the latter enjoying a fine season in Ligue 1, midfield star Danley Jean Jacques and legendary striker Duckens Nazon.

Since qualification was secured, Migne and his staff have been trying to attract new players to bolster the ranks and bring additional experience. Josue Casimir and Wilson Isidor, both on the squad list, recently made their debuts, with the latter scoring his first international goal in the friendly 1-1 draw against Iceland in March.

Having come through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, Lenny Joseph is fresh from a season in which he scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions with Ferencvaros, and adds another dimension to an already formidable attacking line-up. The other two are Dominique Simon, who plays in Slovakia and will bolster the midfield, and Keeto Thermoncy, a 20-year-old centre-back who has taken part in youth team training camps and was given a one-minute appearance against Nicaragua.

They will join marksman Nazon, the national team’s all-time leading goalscorer with 44 goals in 76 appearances, and other attacking options like Frantzdy Pierrot, Louicius Deedson, Derrick Etienne Jr. and Ruben Providence. “The first objective will, of course, be to try and secure our first point in the World Cup finals,” said Migne. “But that would be too little motivation for my players, knowing them as I do. When you enter a competition, it’s to try and perform well. On our new roadmap, there’s qualification for the round of 32. That is neither more nor less than what we’ll modestly aim to achieve, whilst trying to focus on the game rather than the stakes. I expect my lads to show generosity, to connect with one another, and to present the best possible image. The World Cup is a fantastic showcase for Haiti. “The first objective will, of course, be to try and secure our first point in the World Cup finals,” said Migne. “But that would be too little motivation for my players, knowing them as I do.
